Forest Hills Northern senior Chailee Payne wrapped up an outstanding high school golf career with a strong performance at the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals held at Bedford Valley Golf Course on Friday, October 17, and Saturday, October 18. After the opening round, Payne found herself near the top of the leaderboard in third place following an impressive 78. Her consistency from tee to green was evident throughout the round, though a few missed putts kept her from going even lower. She closed the day with one birdie and 11 pars, setting herself up for a strong finish. Saturday brought tougher weather conditions, but Payne showed resilience and focus, carding a 77 to finish with a two-day total of 155, good for a tie for 4th place overall in the state finals. Payne’s top-4 finish capped off a remarkable career as a Husky, filled with dedication, leadership, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the course. Her next chapter will take her to the collegiate level, as she plans to continue her golf career at NCAA Division II powerhouse Findlay University.
