Boys Golf Finishes 4th at MHSAA State Championship

By Ben Sherman | Jun 6, 2026 6:45 PM

The Forest Hills Northern boys golf team capped off an exciting 2026 season with another outstanding performance at the MHSAA State Finals, earning a fourth-place finish for the third consecutive year. The Huskies battled their way through Regionals in Traverse City, advancing to the State Finals by a single stroke. Leading the way was senior Mathieu, who demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout the postseason. Mathieu tied for first place individually at Regionals and followed that performance with a strong 15th-place finish at the State Finals. While the fourth-place trophy was certainly an accomplishment, what stood out most was the way the team finished the tournament. After posting a solid team score of 304 on day one, the Huskies responded with their lowest team score of the entire season on the final day, firing an impressive 298. The second-day score was led by Mathieu (73), Jack H. (73), Lucas (74), and Auden (78). Combined with the opening-round 304, Forest Hills Northern finished with a two-day total of 602, just 12 strokes shy of the state championship. The team's determination, resilience, and ability to perform under pressure were on full display as they closed the season with their best golf of the year. Congratulations to Mathieu, Jack, Lucas, Auden, and the entire Forest Hills Northern boys golf program on an outstanding season and a remarkable finish at the MHSAA State Finals. Way to finish, gentlemen!
