Boys & Girls Track Teams Take OK White Conference Championship

The Forest Hills Northern High School boys and girls track and field teams delivered a dominant performance at the OK White Conference Championships, with both Husky squads capturing conference titles in impressive fashion. The Forest Hills Northern girls claimed the OK White Conference championship with 161 points, finishing ahead of Forest Hills Central (151). The boys team edged out Ottawa Hills in a thrilling finish, winning the conference title with 128.5 points to Ottawa Hills’ 126.33. The conference sweep highlighted the depth, balance, and competitive spirit across every event group for the Huskies. Boys Team Highlights The boys sprint crew led the way with standout relay performances and strong individual finishes. Forest Hills Northern captured conference championships in both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. The 4x100 relay team of Liam Rozier, Jason Scruggs, Trey Anderson, and Dane Briggs won in 43.15, while the 4x200 relay squad of Rozier, Briggs, Anderson, and Scruggs also took first in 1:28.60. Individually, Liam Rozier finished runner-up in the 100 meters (10.83) and third in the 200 meters (22.50). Dane Briggs added a second-place finish in the 200 meters (22.39) and third in the 100 meters (11.05). Trey Anderson also scored in the 200 meters, placing fifth. In the field events, Angelo Gagliardo captured the conference championship in shot put with a throw of 47’8”, while Marcus Benard finished second with a personal-best 45’11”. Benard also placed second in discus with a throw of 137’3”, and Brandon Armour added points in both throwing events. Grady Myers earned an OK White title in the pole vault, clearing 14’6”. The Huskies also scored heavily in the jumps, led by Kaden Townsend’s runner-up finish in long jump and Boden Hersman’s second-place finish in high jump. Distance contributors included Gabriel Williams, who finished eighth in the 3200 meters in a personal-best 9:57.14, and the 4x800 relay team, which placed fifth. Girls Team Highlights The Forest Hills Northern girls used outstanding balance across the track and field events to secure the conference championship. Nahya Daza had an exceptional day in the sprints, placing second in both the 100 meters (12.17) and 200 meters (25.10). Anna Shaarda added a third-place finish in the 400 meters with a personal-best 1:01.09 and also finished fifth in the 200 meters. The Huskies were especially strong in the distance events. Willa Prinsen placed second in both the 1600 meters (5:10.73 PR) and 3200 meters (11:25.77). Jaclyn Charbauski scored in both distance races, including a fourth-place finish in the 3200 meters. Gwyn Faber added a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters with a personal-best 2:25.24. Forest Hills Northern also excelled in the relays. The 4x800 relay team of Gwyn Faber, Olivia Meisner, Jaclyn Charbauski, and Willa Prinsen finished runner-up in 9:53.04. The 4x400 relay team placed fourth, narrowly missing third by less than a tenth of a second. In the hurdles, Gabriella Cabrera delivered a breakout performance, finishing runner-up in the 300 hurdles with a personal-best 47.42. Amelia Danian added a fourth-place finish, while Aubrey Wierenga and Sylvie Kim also scored for the Huskies. The girls field events were another major strength. Achol Deng captured the conference championship in high jump, clearing 5’1”, while Aubrey Wierenga placed second. Bethany Jenison earned runner-up finishes in both shot put and discus, including a personal-best discus throw of 115’4”. The Huskies now turn their attention to the postseason after an outstanding showing at the conference championships and a memorable sweep of the OK White titles.
